What do I need to bring?

Rather than list everything that you need to pack we will just list items that we think you should bring in addition to what you would normally pack for a holiday.

Clothing

Most camps and lodges have a daily laundry service, so it is not necessary to bring too much clothing. Basically you need to aim for bush coloured safari outfits (i.e. green/brown/khaki, not cream/white/coloured).

  • Long sleeved shirts x 2 for evening wear to keep the mozzies away
  • Long trousers x 2 for evening wear to keep the mozzies away
  • Fleece for the early mornings, winter mornings can be quite chilly
  • Trainers/soft shoes for walking safaris (you won't need heavy boots)
  • Wide brimmed hat
  • Swimwear, many lodges have a swimming pool

Medical

  • Anti malarial medication (see health precautions)
  • Insect repellent containing > 50% DEET
  • Bite relief cream
  • Re-hydration mixture sachets
  • Paracetamol
  • Travel sickness pills

Miscellaneous

  • Sunglasses
  • Torch
  • Binoculars
  • Camera
  • Sun block
  • Blister/foot care
  • Plastic travel plug for basins, you would be amazed how many plugs go missing!

Electrics

Electric Power is 230V running at 50Hz. You will find two types of plug, an older style plug with round pins view and the newer  rectangular blade plug view as found in the UK.
